Edersee primeval forest trail

The 27 km long Edersee is one of the largest and most beautiful reservoirs in Europe! For more than 100 years now, the lake has been dammed by the monumental Edertalsperre dam and has had a huge impact on the landscape in the Edersee adventure region. The route of the 68 km long primeval forest trail runs around the Edersee. The “Quality Trail Wanderbares Deutschland”, certified by the German Hiking Association, impressively shows you what makes the region special: it is the alternation of water and forest, the play of colors of the lively nature. The expansive beech forests of the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park, the whimsical primeval forests of the Edersee's steep slopes, the rural cultural landscape and the deep blue Edersee create a harmonious and captivating overall picture. The landscape is not only pleasing to the eye, but has also developed into an extraordinary excursion and vacation paradise.
